Government’s anti-COVID center limits air connection with Turkey

MOSCOW, Apr 12 (PRIME) -- The Russian government’s center for fight with the spread of the coronavirus disease has decided to limit air connection with Turkey from Thursday through June 1, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said on Monday.

“We have made a decision to restrict regular and charter air travel from Russia’s international airports to the airports of the Turkish Republic and back from April 15 through June 1,” she said, adding that flights necessary for construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey will be an exclusion.

Russian air companies will perform flights necessary for evacuation of Russian citizens from Turkey and that two flights from Moscow to Istanbul and back will be retained, she added.

“We have also recommended tourist companies to stop selling tourist products to Turkey for the period,” she also said.

Air company S7 Group said it plans to suspend flights to Turkey in the period, and is waiting for official information to begin the evacuation.

Director of the Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare Oversight Anna Popova earlier said that the epidemic situation in Turkey was deteriorating fast.
